The Anoeta stadium, currently the Reale Arena stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a sports venue located in the city of San Sebastián and although it is municipally owned, it is known for being the field of Real Sociedad, a Spanish first division football team.
The proposed remodelling of the stadium eliminated the athletics tracks, thus reducing the level of the playing field and extending the stands from 26,000 to 42500 spectators in capacity.
The north and south funds were demolished to bring them closer to the playing field and expand their capacity.
On the roof, four large trusses form a parallelogram with their sides cutting perpendicular to support the expansion of the roof of the new bleachers.
In order to give uniformity to the appearance of the stadium, an ETFE envelope was constructed over a space truss.
Arenas & Asociados was part of the designing team of the roof and the envelope, being responsible of the detailed engineering.
